I and the third parties involved in operating my website use cookies in strict accordance with the UK`s Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (“PECR”) and the Data Protection Act 2018 (“DPA”). As well as the EU`s Privacy and Electronic Communications Directive (“PECD”) and the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”).
What are cookies and why do we use them?
A cookie is a simple small file that is sent with the pages of a website you visit and can be stored by the web browser of your PC or device. Cookie files are automatically placed in the cookie folder which are effectively the "brain" of your browser and when you return to the same website, your browser then transmits the information stored in the Cookie back to the relevant website.
Cookies typically consist of a name and a value, and they can have various purposes depending on their classification, lifespan, and type. Typically, cookies are classed as either first-party cookies, or third-party cookies. First-party cookies are created directly by my website, whereas third-party cookies are created by a partner website. Each cookie also has a lifespan which can vary from a few minutes to a few years.
As for the most frequently used way to categorise cookies, the classifications, the least privacy invasive type of cookies are Essential or Necessary cookies. As the name suggests those are essential or necessary to ensure that a website works properly and is secure and without them certain features of a website would simply not function. There are also Functional cookies, which allow a website to remember the options and personalisation settings a user has made when visiting a website. Of course, there are also Analysis and performance cookies, which are used to monitor and improve the function and service of a website, track down problems, record visitor numbers, and provide analytics metrics. Lastly, there are also advertising cookies or targeting cookies, which are used to deliver customised advertising to the user.
The Cookies used on my website

However, since the consent obtained must also be recorded, we have installed the necessary Cookie Notification Banner and you will be asked about the use of Cookies upon your first visit of my website.
